Top Amazon Move of the Week: Big shoes to fill at Booker and Amazon


It’s taken less than a fortnight for the jobs’ market to explode back into life after the summer break with two significant appointments confirmed within hours of one another earlier this week.


Amazon has appointed vice president of its European fashion division John Boumphrey to lead its UK business, Boumphrey, who joined the online giant nine years ago as its UK media director, will succeed Doug Gurr as UK managing director, who stepped down in June to become director of the Natural History Museum in London. while Booker chief executive Charles Wilson will be replaced by Tesco chief product officer Andrew Yaxley when he retires next year. Wilson will be replaced in the role by Tesco chief product officer Andrew Yaxley with a “comprehensive handover” process to begin from today. Yaxley will be replaced in his current role by Ashwin Prasad, Tesco commercial director for packaged food.
